Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. Opens its New Service Centre

The Town of Smithville, ON is home to the newly opened Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. Service Centre announced today by CEO Brian Wilkie of Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.  An official opening ceremony took place at the site on 2676 Clifford Street in the Town of Smithville.

Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Release New Electricity Rates Effective November 1, 2009

Today, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) released electricity commodity prices that take effect November 1, 2009.

Regulated Price Plan prices, which are updated twice a year, are reflected as the Electricity line of residential consumer bills, who do not have a retailer contract.  The new RPP prices effective November 1 are:

- 5.8 cents per kWh up to 1000 kWh each month; and
- 6.7 cents per kWh above the threshold of 1000 kWh per month.

Based on a residential consumer using 800kWh per month, the impact of the increase in RPP tiered prices on the average electricity bill will be a reduction of about $1.00 per month.  This is because, in the winter season (November 1 to April 30), consumers can use up to 1,000 kWh per month at a the lower price instead of the 600 kWh per month that applies during the summer season.

RPP prices are based on a 12-month forecast and are designed to provide stable and predictable electricity pricing as well as ensure the price consumers pay better reflects the price paid to electricity generators.

The Ontario Energy Board regulates the province's electricity and natural gas sectors in the public interest.  It envisions a viable and efficient energy sector with informed consumers served by responsive regulatory processes that are effective, fair and transparent.

Call Before You Dig

Effective July 15, 2009 Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. will use ON1CALL (Call Before You Dig) for locates of underground electrical wires throughout the Fonthill, Lincoln, and West Lincoln areas.

Ontario One Call Ltd. or ON1CALL is a private corporation which receives excavator (including home owners) locate requests. Customer Service representatives at the call centre will take the necessary information regarding the excavation plans and will notify member utilities with underground facilities in your area. There is no charge to the excavator for this service.

ON1CALL is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ON1CALL accepts locate requests by telephone, e-ticket or Fax. They can be reached by Telephone (toll free) 1-800-400-2255 or Fax (toll free) 1-800-400-8876.

Regulated Price Plan (RPP) - Effective May 1, 2009

On April 15, 2009 Ontario Energy Board (OEB) released electricity commodity prices that take effect May 1, 2009.

Regulated Price Plan (RPP) prices, reviewed semi-annually, are reflected on the "Electricity" line of residential and small commercial (General Service < 50kW) consumer bills.  The new RPP prices will increase by 0.1 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh).

- 5.7 cents per kWh up to 600 kWh each month; and
- 6.6 cents per kWh above that.

The impact of the change in RPP prices on the average electricity bill will be about $1.00 per month (1% approx.) based on 1000 kWh/month use.

Effective May 1, 2009, the seasonal threshold will change from 1,000 kWh to 600 kWh per month.  The impact of the change in threshold on the average electricity bill will be about $3.60 per month (3% approx.)

The electricity price increase coupled with the threshold change will raise the monthly bill of a consumer that uses 1000 kWh/month by about $4.60 or 4%.

Today, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) released electricity commodity prices that take effect November 1, 2008.

Regulated Price Plan (RPP) prices, reviewed semi-annually, are reflected on the Electricity line of residential consumer bills.  They will be:

• 5.6 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh) up to 1,000 kWh each month; and
• 6.5 cents per kWh above that.

For a residential consumer using 1,000 kWh per month, the new RPP prices will result in a bill increase of approximately $2.40 per month.  This takes into account the change in the threshold to 1,000 kWh per month.

New Service NPEI Centre in Smithville

The Town of Smithville, ON will be home to the new Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. Service Centre announced today by CEO Brian Wilkie of Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.  An official groundbreaking ceremony took place at the site on 2676 Clifford Street in the Town of Smithville at 10 AM Friday, September 5th.

URGENT: Customers must now make their cheques payable to Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.

At this point, there is only one change that customers will notice after the new company comes into being after January 1, 2008.

After that date, hydro bills will be paid to Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. rather than to Niagara Falls Hydro or Pen West Utilities "We will continue to explain and remind our customers of that one immediate change…….that is the name of the new company they are paying their bills to – NIAGARA PENINSULA ENERGY INC."
