Discontinuation of a 48 Hour Notification Collection Card

Please be advised that as a result of the Ontario Energy Board's review of their Customer Service Rules, Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. will no longer be issuing a 48 Hour Notice Collection Card to the service address of an overdue account.  Effective, July 1, 2019, Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. will now attempt to contact the customer by phone.  Please ensure that we have your correct contact information on file.

The Winter Disconnection Ban ended April 30, 2019 and we are reminding customers that they are responsible for paying any outstanding balances on their electric accounts.  We understand that this can be a struggle for some, so please keep in mind that we are here to help you. In order to assist you, we offer Payment Arrangements, an Equal Payment Plan (conditions apply) and an Arrears Payment Plan, along with a number of Social Assistance Programs. 

There is help for low-income customers who are struggling to pay their electricity bills:

LEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program)
This grant is available to low-income or special circumstance residents who qualify and meet program criteria and have a Niagara Peninsula Energy account that is in arrears or is faced with the threat of disconnection.

NEEF (Niagara Emergency Energy Fund)
Funded by the Niagara Region, this fund covers electricity, natural gas, oil and other forms of energy.  Funding is limited to assistance for payment of arrears, security deposits and reconnection fees.

Applicants apply for these programs through the following agencies and must provide detailed documentation.  Please call ahead and book an appointment.

OESP (Ontario Electricity Support Program)
Low-income customers may also register for the OESP which is a rate assistance program for low-income households.  The OESP provides a monthly credit to eligible customers based on household income and size.  Customers may apply independently or with the assistance of an intake agency.  Apply on line at or call toll free at 1-855-831-8151.

If you will be unable to pay the full balance of your bill by the due date, it is so important for you to contact us and speak to one of our Customer Service Representatives who will be pleased to assist you.
