New Ontario Business Costs Rebate Program
January 24, 2022 BACK TO NEWS

Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. understands the difficulties that businesses are facing during the COVID-19 Pandemic. As we continue to assist our customers, we would like to make all of our commercial customers aware of the new Ontario Business Costs Rebate program put into place by the Ontario government to support businesses at this time.

The new Ontario Business Costs Rebate Program provides support for fixed property tax and energy costs to businesses that are most impacted by the public health measures put in place as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

To be eligible, businesses must:

  •          Be subject to a provincially-mandated capacity limit of 50 per cent or lower (including a requirement to temporarily close) and;
  •          Pay commercial (non-residential) property taxes and/or non-residential energy costs, either directly or through the property owner (as detailed in their lease).

Not-for-profits and charities may be eligible if their operations/services are impacted by the capacity limits and they meet the eligibility criteria.
