Niagara Falls, ON (March 24, 2020) - The Government of Ontario is providing 45-day emergency relief to support Ontarians impacted by the global COVID-19 outbreak. As of Tuesday, March 24, 2020, households, farms and small businesses who pay time-of-use electricity rates will be charged off-peak rates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The off-peak time rate of 10.1 cents per kilowatt hour will begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

“These are extraordinary times, a time to help one another and a time to stay connected to our customers. We want to ensure that they know we are at their service and that we will do everything we can to see them through this difficult time.  I am pleased that the Government has listened to our customers and has provided some relief during this difficult time,” stated Brian Wilkie, President and Chief Executive Officer.

NPEI would like to remind customers that we will continue to work with you any way we can:

  • NPEI will be suspending any disconnections for 3 months following the end of the established Winter Disconnection Ban moratorium, minimally until July 31, 2020.
